I've been counting down the days ever since I came across the Wheels & Waves Car Show listing while searching for Malibu events. I was not disappointed. As I’ve mentioned before I have a huge passion for cars & truck, especially Hot Rods, specifically any vehicles that are unique, Kustom or One-Off. Know that you don’t have to stay the whole time to have a great experience. I took a lot of photos & I saw a lot of vehicles that made me ooh & ah, I shared some below My boys loved the free 1:64 scale Hot Wheels version of the life sized 50th Anniversary Hot Wheels Chevrolet Camaro that was on display. The free trading card was very cool, and I enjoyed the free cup of coffee courtesy of Starbucks Coffee which helped with the morning chill.
There are lots of car shows & meet-ups around So Cal, but this one is bit different as it’s more Kustoms & old School vehicles than new off the showroom floor. That said there were a few new off the showroom floor vehicles that my boys and I were in awe over. I should also mention the Celebrity Guest Tony Dow from the Classic TV show Leave it to Beaver, we were able to meet & take a photo with. Every month there are different vehicle & Celebrities, it’s just never the same show. Many of the people in attendance have a passion for vehicles as can be seen by the many cool vehicles in the parking lot that were not part of the show. It was almost its own mini show of its own, so don’t forget to look at those as well.
Thinking back about my morning at Wheels & Waves Malibu, it made me think of walking through an exhibit at one of the local Automotive Museums, but out in fresh air & with some of the artist on hand. On thing Car Enthusiast like is to talk about their pride & joy. You can tell looking at these vehicles that they contain a little piece of their heart & soul.
I really enjoyed walking around looking at all the vehicles with my boys. I went back several times to get a closer look at my favorites in case I misses something the first time or to peek inside or under the hood which was an extra treat. It was a really nice day, a little overcast & chilly so if you go next time, maybe keep that in mind. I was fine, but my kids were a bit chilly in their typical So Cal attire.
I highly recommend bringing your family to this super fun show, you can even bring your dog with you as this is a pet friendly event, I saw many people walking around with their fur babies. You could even extend Your Family Fun for the day by going out for a nice breakfast afterward or you can hang out & relax till 10 am, that's when the Malibu Farmer’s Market around the corner opens.
